Trace Keywords
Trace Keywords — simple guide for shop owners
This page helps you see if your shop appears in local searches for words people use (keywords), and where you rank. Plain language: it tells you who shows up when people search for things like “bakery in Coimbatore” and whether your shop is among the top results.
What Trace Keywords does (in one sentence)
Type a what (keyword) and a where (location) — Trace Keywords checks search results and shows whether your shop ranks, how many keywords you track, your average rank, and which competitor keywords you might try.
Top header & quick actions
Keyword Analytics — jumps to deeper keyword reports.
Refresh Page — re-check latest stored data.
Back to Dashboard — return to main view.
Why it matters: these let you run a quick check and then dive into full analytics or return to daily operations.
The Trace form — (What / Where)
Search Term (What) — enter the keyword people type (e.g., “bakery”, “phone repair”).
Location (Where) — the city/area you want to check (e.g., “Coimbatore”, “Downtown”).
Trace Now — runs the check.
Why it matters: this is the core tool — it simulates the local search your customers do and finds where you appear.
Do this now: try 1 local keyword you want to rank for (e.g., “men’s shoe store Coimbatore”).
Keyword Stats cards — quick summary (what they show)
Total Keywords — how many keywords you’re tracking.
1st Rank Keywords — how many keywords where you’re #1.
Ranks 2–4 — favorable positions close to top.
Ranks 6–10 — on page 1 (usually useful but less visible).
Rank > 10 — below page 1 (work needed).
Average Ranking — mean position across tracked keywords.
Why it matters: you see at-a-glance how visible you are and where to prioritize SEO work.
Do this now: if many keywords are >10, pick 3 to improve (product titles, descriptions, local landing pages).
Filters (refine tracked keywords)
Use filters to narrow the list:
Category — filter by business type (e.g., Bakery).
Rank — show only Rank 1, 2–4, 6–10, >10, or Not Ranked.
Location — filter by city/locality.
Date — check rank on a specific date.
Why it matters: helps focus on keywords that matter now (seasonal, city-specific).
Do this now: filter to >10 and start a plan to move those into 2–4.
Tracked Keywords table (history)
For each tracked keyword you see:
Keyword text (clickable to run a search)
Category (extracted)
Your Rank (big circle showing rank or N/A)
City & Country
When it was searched (timestamp)
Actions: History (see rank changes over time), Delete
Why it matters: historical trends show whether your optimization is improving rank.
Do this now: click History on a keyword where rank dropped recently to inspect changes.
Reports (download / send)
Download PDF — export current keyword list and ranks as a PDF.
Send Report — email the PDF summary to any recipient (client, manager).
Report History — list of previously sent reports.
Why it matters: share progress with stakeholders or save snapshots for audits.
Do this now: send a weekly report to your marketing person.
Results section (after you Trace)
Shows the list of places returned by the search (rank order).
Columns: Rank, Business Name, Address, Rating, Total Reviews.
Your shop row is highlighted if present.
Useful filters on results: name search, rating filter, review count sorting.
Why it matters: lets you see competitors shown for the same keyword and where you appear.
Do this now: note which competitor is above you and inspect their photos, reviews, and keywords.
Suggestions & Competitor Keywords
Auto-suggestions — the system suggests additional keyword+location combos based on your history.
Competitor suggestions — keywords competitors rank for (quick one-click to trace them).
Why it matters: easy way to expand tracking and find low-effort opportunities.
Do this now: click one competitor suggestion and run a trace — add the promising ones to tracking.
UI behaviors to expect (what scripts do)
Submitting the trace shows a loading modal (SweetAlert) and then a summary popup with your rank (success/warning/info).
Deleting a keyword asks for confirmation.
Suggestion and competitor buttons auto-run traces.
Why it matters: feedback keeps you informed that the system is working and helps you interpret results quickly.
Simple actions you can take (30–60 minutes)
Run a trace for 3 keywords you want to rank for locally.
Review top competitors that appear above you — check their photos, reviews, and website.
Add 5 new keywords (product + city combos) to track.
Export a PDF report and share it with your staff/marketing.
Use suggestions to discover one new keyword to monitor this week.
Quick tips to improve ranking for a keyword
Add the keyword in your shop name (only if it’s part of your legal/brand name), short description, and product titles.
Add high-quality photos and include keyword-rich captions.
Acquire a few genuine reviews mentioning the keyword or service.
Ensure your address and opening hours are correct and complete.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
“Not found” after a trace: sometimes search results vary by region or time — try a nearby locality or rerun later.
Data looks stale: refresh the page or use Refresh Page. If tracking is new, give it a few hours to collect data.
Competitor suggestions duplicate: the UI hides suggestions already tracked; if you still see duplicates, clear filters and retry.
Delete mistake: deleting a tracked keyword removes it from the list; re-add it to track again.
Who should check this and how often
Shop owner / manager: weekly to monitor visibility and spot drops.
Digital marketer / SEO: daily when running campaigns or optimizing pages.
Franchise manager: monthly aggregated reports across locations.
